June 27 – June 30, 2025: Our debrief weekend was filled with a visit to Cesar Vallejo University, a cooking class, visit to the local market and a time to reflect and discuss our overall FulbrightTGC experience.
Friendship Bracelets & the Ties that Bind
Kelly made friendship bracelets with her student in Maryland and brought them all the way to Peru. They brought so much joy to the hearts of these teenagers.
Stickers Can Motivate Students!
I had the opportunity to give motivational stickers to students. It was the best Amazon purchase that I brought with me to Tacna. The students took stickers that held meaning for them. Some pointed to different students to receive them. It was a lovely moment.

Language barriers didn’t stop us from engaging in conversations with teachers. The English teachers translated the questions and answers during our round table discussions with tea and delicious empanadas. The hospitality shown was appreciated.
